​Ellen Abelson

Ellen retired after 43 years working in the field of special education and character/humane education. A graduate of Boston University, she did graduate work at Boston College in Special Education.  She authored several children's books and accompanying curriculum for Operation Outreach-USA, a Character and Humane Education Program originally with the Massachusetts' Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.  She traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Israel sharing this program with teachers. She is the mother of two sons and has two grandchildren.  She still tutors children with special needs.
